Laura Jarvis Brackett, MEd, LPC, LCPC, NCC
Trauma Therapist & Educator
Welcome, and way to go on looking for support!
I am a St. Louis-based Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in supporting adults who have been through trauma. As a trauma survivor myself, I understand the ways it can impact our minds, emotions, bodies, behaviors, and relationships. I am a forever-student, always seeking more insight into trauma recovery including the lived experiences of people who don’t share my identities as a white, cis-het, mostly able-bodied woman. My hope is to help you untangle your experiences, recognize your needs and strengths, and decide how to live a life that feels right for you. I do my best work with adults who are dealing with:
Past childhood abuse (physical, mental, emotional, sexual, and neglect)
Toxic or abusive environments (work, religious, families)
Complex trauma, often diagnosed as personality disorders
Difficult relationships with parents or the families you grew up in
Physical and sexual assault
Chronic pain or illness
Medical trauma
Dissociation
Depression
Anxiety
To help you get a better idea of what I’m like as a therapist, here are a few ways clients and colleagues have described me:
Non-judgmental
Casual
Funny
Animated
Warm
LGBTQ+ ally
Comfortable with swearing
Won’t ask you to do anything I wouldn’t do, or haven’t done
